It is said that opposites attract- this saying could not be any more true of Jordan’s and my relationship. While Jordan makes strategic plans and checks the weather weeks (if not months) in advance, I fly by the seat of my pants and get caught in downpours without a rain jacket. I believe when two people are opposites, they tend to end up evening each other out. Jordan and I are able to laugh about our differences, and rejoice in what makes us the same. We both have the same goofy sense of humor, and both love a great glass of wine (even though I will always choose a glass of white and he a glass of red).
So, it should come as no surprise that Jordan meticulously planned out the day he would propose to me. He picked Valerie Hill to be the location for the proposal- our favorite winery. It was a Saturday much like any other- I woke up a full 2 hours after him, grumbled that I needed coffee and he…was a nervous wreck. Even with him flitting around like an anxious butterfly, I did not think that this would be THE DAY.
I knew we were meeting two of my girl friends at a winery and was very excited that all of us “coincidentally” had off of work. I threw on a pair of my favorite jeans, put some makeup on, and off we went. When we arrived, Jordan was immediately frazzled. The winery was packed. Unbeknowst to him, there was an event going on that day. We wandered outside with our glasses of wine and stood amongst everyone partaking in the gorgeous weather. Jordan then suggested that we take a few group photos in the grape vines. To my surprise, it was there that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. With a glass of wine in my right hand and an exploding heart, I said “yes”.
The pictures below were taken by my friends with an iPhone 7, and they captured the joy that Jordan and I felt in our hearts at that exact moment. I will treasure these photos for the rest of my life. As a photographer, I strive to capture moments like this for each of my clients. These photos will forever bring me back to that oh-so special day amongst the grape vines.
