Matt and Joy’s “how we met story” is the cutest; It could be made into a movie! 12 years ago, Joy was working as a nurse at a hospital in D.C with Matt’s sister. She asked Joy to come out with her group of friends to the Clarendon Ball Room in Arlington, Va. Matt was there as well and the two hit it off. The couple has been through a lot over the past decade to include several deployments (Matt is a military man), a recent move to the coldest part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and planning a wedding in 2020. Despite all of these obstacles, Joy and Matt were finally able to say “I do” on 10-10-20.
Prior to the wedding ceremony, Joy and Matt shared a private First Look before everyone took a party bus to the Botanic Garden and Capitol Building for portraits.
The couple’s wedding was held at Big Bear Cafe in Washington D.C. Big Bear is a coffee shop, market and private event venue on 1st Street NW in D.C. The upstairs room hosted the wedding ceremony, which was officiated by the couple’s good friend. After the ceremony, everyone headed down the stairs to the reception, which took place in the outdoor garden patio under the grape vines. Everyone danced into the night under the string lights, celebrating the newlyweds.
I am so grateful I was able to meet Joy and Matt and photograph their Big Day. They are beautiful people inside and out!
