I’m a list girl. I love a good to-do list. I write down lists in my paper planner and even draw little boxes beside each item to check off once the task is complete. So satisfying! In keeping with my love for LISTS, I have a fun list for all of the couples out there planning a wedding! After photographing countless weddings for couples in Northern Virginia and D.C., I have compiled a list of 6 things your wedding photographer (that’s me!) wants you to know! Number 1:
Text me, call me, bounce ideas off of me, ask me questions, send me pictures of your wedding dress- I want to be as involved in your Big Day as you’ll allow me to be! I want to participate in your excitement! Plus, the more we get to know each other, the more it will feel like a FRIEND is showing up to photograph your wedding day, and not just “another vendor”! Number 2:
Yep! I want to walk out to my mailbox and be super excited when I see your beautiful wedding suite waiting for me! This totally ties in with number one- I want to share in your excitement! Sending me an invite also ensures I will have your wedding invite to photograph on your wedding day for detail photos! (One less thing for you to remember the day of!) Number 3:
Hear me out. I’ll admit- when I was planning my own wedding, I toyed with the thought of NOT hiring a wedding coordinator because of the cost. Coordinators can be expensive! Thank the LORD I changed my mind and hired a wonderful coordinator! She made our day run seamlessly and I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. The last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is whether the tables are set up how you envisioned or the timeline is staying on track. You won’t want your parents/family worrying about this either! Pro tip: Just hire the wedding coordinator. Build it into your budget! (Some venues even offer a day of coordinator- definitely take advantage of this if you don’t have the budget to hire your own!) If you are searching for a wedding planner/coordinator in the Northern Virginia area, I am happy to send you my list of preferred vendors!
A simple tag at the end of your post means the absolute WORLD to ALL of your wedding vendors, especially since a lot of our clients come from past client referrals! Your tag is one of the best ways to introduce me to your friends/ family who may need a photographer for their own wedding! ???? Number 5:
If you have hired me to photograph your wedding, I hope you have put your trust in me to document all of the magic surrounding your special day! This means trusting me to assist you with your timeline, pick the best location for photos with amazing lighting, and guiding you through posing! The last thing I want any of my couples to do is stress about their wedding day in any way- especially when it comes to the photos! Number 6:
Once you receive your wedding gallery, save it to a usb, a few computers, order prints, have an album made… you get the point. Don’t leave your wedding photos floating in the cloud! (Does anyone really understand the cloud?!) There you have it. 6 things that I, as your wedding photographer, want you to know! Is there anything I listed that you hadn’t thought of? Is there anything that you will make sure to do for your wedding day? Please tell me below in the comments!
