As a Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer, I love to share cozy at-home sessions! This newborn session took place when baby Lyla had just turned two weeks old. We photographed at home, making for a cozy and intimate session without any of the stress of having to leave the house. This is especially wonderful in the cold, winter months.
The best place to take photos if you are having an at-home session with your newborn is in the nursery or another well-lit room in your home. A few tips: Open the blinds, pull back the curtains, and clear any clutter away from the area. Natural light creates the most beautiful newborn portraits.
Allie chose a beautiful cream colored dress from the Studio Wardrobe. I love to recommend neutral colors for newborn sessions, so that all of the focus is on the new baby and there aren’t any distractions. Dresses flow beautifully and flatter everyone, especially the mama who may be looking for a little extra grace after delivering her baby into the world. Additionally, wear something that makes you feel beautiful!
All you need for your baby during your at home newborn session are a few simple neutral colored blankets or wraps and a few props (think bonnets, small head bows, little stuffed animals). Again, I love to recommend neutral and soft colors to keep the focus on your sweet babe.
