The Best Locations In Washington DC For Engagement Photos

Whether you are a DC native or visiting from out of town, you know that a classic DC engagement session cant be beat if you are looking for chic city vibes. In this post, I’ll be showcasing some of the best locations in Washington D.C. for engagement photos on a mix of film and digital.

The Tidal Basin

Especially in the Spring when the Cherry Blossoms are blooming, The Tidal Basin is a magical backdrop for engagement photos! As of Summer 2024, the Tidal Basin is under construction and photos at this location may be limited.  For updates on the cherry blossoms, visit www.cherryblossomwatch.com

Meridian Hill Park

A beautiful cascading waterfall and stone fountains make this location extra unique. The architecture at this location reminds me of Europe.

Jefferson Memorial

The Jefferson Memorial is located on The Tidal Basin. The beautiful white stone and columns create the perfect backdrop for engagement photos. I recommend a sunrise session at this location to avoid crowds and traffic.

Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool

This is one of my most favorite locations for engagement photos in D.C.! The white stone, steps, and columns can’t be beat. From this location, you can also have photos taken in front of the reflecting pool and the Washington Monument. I strongly suggest a sunrise session at this location to avoid crowds and traffic.

D.C. War Memorial

This memorial is typically less crowded and is close to the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial with just a short walk.

The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center

This is a gorgeous location with beautiful architecture (and gold accents!) The best part? It’s covered– if it happens to be raining, this is a great spot for photos.

National Arboretum

Sprawling lawns and gorgeous columns make this location extra special and versatile. If you are looking for more of a garden feel to your photos, this location may be perfect! There is a permit fee associated with photographing at this location.

Georgetown Waterfront

You cant go wrong with Georgetown! The waterfront and cobblestone streets leading down to it are ultra romantic.

The Streets Near The Capitol

The charming streets and colorful row houses near the Capitol Building make a great backdrop for engagement photos.

I hope this post gave you some insight on some of the best locations in Washington D.C. for engagement photos.
