Sarah and Caleb’s September wedding in Washington D.C. was nothing short of a fabulously chic soireé. From the elegant black and white color palette to the fun live band, their wedding at The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in D.C. was was a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

A Modern D.C. Affair: Setting the Tone

Sarah and Caleb had a clear vision for their wedding: an elegant affair that paid homage to the city and showed their guests a fabulous time. The Ronald Reagan Building was the perfect canvas for their dreams to come to life. Its grandeur and timeless architecture set the stage for what would be a wedding to remember.

Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, which is just a short walking distance from the Ronald Reagan Building. The couple shared a first look with a view of the Capitol Building in the background prior to their ceremony.

From The Bride and Groom…

What do you enjoy to do together?

“We enjoy sharing the kitchen together. Caleb is a great chef and Sarah is a talented baker so we often find ourselves fighting for counter space to make something tasty. We also enjoy traveling together and of course lazy Sundays on the couch watching a show or movie”

What is one thing about the other person that you love then most?

Caleb: “I am always remarked by how selfless Sarah is and the care she shows for others”

Sarah: “How much initiative Caleb takes both personally and professionally and his constant zest for life”

A Modern Washington D.C. Wedding

Sarah and Caleb’s vision wouldn’t have been realized without the expert guidance of Rachel Kendall Events.

“From my first inquiry call with Sarah + Caleb I knew two things – 1. This couple was truly in love and 2. They had their priorities straight for their wedding day. Sarah + Caleb’s number one priority for their wedding was making sure it was a memorable party for their guests. They wanted to design a city wedding with a genuine vibe. Being drawn to the modern, classic black + white color palette, we hit the ground running to design a timeless, chic yet fun design that fit their personalities perfectly. Sarah + Caleb’s wedding was one of our favorite wedding designs to work on due to their style and relaxed nature. Their wedding turned out beautifully and was memorable for not only the guests but the vendors who enjoyed their time working the wedding as well!” –Rachel Cumberland of Rachel Kendall Events

From the elegant tablescapes with carefully curated details to the checkered dance floor, every element of the décor exuded chic sophistication. The color palette for the wedding was a stunning display of simplicity —black and white with a touch of ethereal white florals. Black candlesticks, plates and chairs adorned each table, creating a perfect contrast against the white blooms and table linens.

Dance the Night Away: A Black and White Checkered Dance Floor

Dinner and the reception were held in the atrium of the Ronald Reagan Building. The celebration continued into the night as guests danced on a black and white checkered dance floor. Sarah and Caleb changed into second outfits during the reception and wowed everyone with their dance moves (especially when Sarah moonwalked to Michael Jackson, or when Caleb picked Sarah up and lifted her into the air a la Dirty Dancing). These two sure know how to throw a party!

Cultural Fusion: A Celebration of Love in D.C.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Sarah and Caleb’s wedding was the fusion of their two cultures. Caleb’s family is from Ethiopia, adding a unique and vibrant dimension to the celebration. Guests were treated to traditional Ethiopian dance and music, creating a beautiful blend of traditions and a testament to the couple’s love and inclusivity.

A Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center Wedding

Sarah and Caleb’s wedding at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington D.C. was a testament to their love story, a love that transcended cultures and embraced modern elegance. Against the backdrop of one of the nation’s most iconic venues, their chic black and white wedding was a timeless celebration that will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to witness it. It was a day where two hearts and two cultures blended seamlessly, creating a lasting memory of love, unity, and fun times for all.
