Salubria is a historic, eighteenth-century Georgian-style manor house constructed by Reverend John Thompson, rector of the Little Fork Church, in the 1700s. “Salubria” means “healthful” in Latin, and this beautiful house has become a popular destination for visitors from all over.
The venue features tall, corbel-capped chimneys enclosed at each end of a hip roof. The house’s front and rear facades are identical, made of Flemish bond bricks. Three sides of the manor are stuccoed to look like cut stone, which was popular in the Greek-revival period of the 1850s. Salubria’s interior feels like being transported to another time. This manor house became a Virginia Historic Landmark in 1969 and part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Salubria is open for photo sessions and is most popular during the spring months. Clients must call the office beforehand to schedule a maternity photo shoot on the property.
Salubria is also available for private tours for a small fee. Visitors can make reservations in advance by calling the office. You must arrange photo sessions or special events through the office beforehand. Visitors might also enjoy the Fort Germanna Visitor Center Museum and Genealogy Library, which is open every day except Sunday.
